Jasmina Ćosić Dedović, PhD, was born in Sarajevo in 1980.

Completed elementary and secondary school in Sarajevo. Enrolled at the Law School in 1998 and earned a bachelor’s degree in 2002. Completed graduate studies at the Law School of the University of Sarajevo on 27 April 2012 by defending successfully an MA thesis entitled Command responsibility – Statute and case law of the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia, earning the degree of MA in Law. On 25 May 2017 received a PhD degree from the Law School of the University of Sarajevo (Department of Criminal Law), having defended successfully a PhD thesis entitled Examination of witnesses in criminal proceedings. Passed the bar examination in 2007 and an attorney's exam in October that same year. 

Completed internship in the period 2002-2003 first as a legal clerk/paralegal – intern and then as a junior legal adviser at the Office of the High Representative for Bosnia and Herzegovina. Worked as a legal assistant at the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia from February 2004 until July 2008. Prior to appointment as a judge, performed the duty of Chief of Staff of the Minister of Health in the Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina. She was appointed a judge of the Municipal Court of Sarajevo in 2010, and a judge of the Court of BiH in April 2016.

Since April 20019, she has been a BiH representative at the Consultative Council of European Judges (CCJE).

Attended various professional training programs (seminars, round tables, conferences and courses) on the national and international level.

A representative of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina in the field of domestic violence at the World Health Organization from 2007 until 2011. A member of the state-level Coordination Body for Monitoring the Implementation of the Strategy against Juvenile Delinquency in BiH from 2008 until 2010. A member of a task force charged with implementing and monitoring the implementation of the Strategy for Prevention of Domestic Violence in the Federation of BiH from 2007 until 2011. A member of numerous task forces charged with drafting new laws or amendments to existing laws, drafting bylaws, multi-sector strategies, policies and action plans on the State and Entity levels.

She has been an educator and author of topics at seminars and trainings in the area of criminal and criminal procedure law for years. She is a standing educator at the Center for Education of Judges and Prosecutors of the Federation of BiH on the topic of criminal law, juvenile justice and other areas of substantive and procedural law and skills, and also occasionally gives lectures for the Federation of BiH Ministry of Justice aimed at training non-judicial institutions about the Law on Protection and Treatment of Children and Minors in Criminal Proceedings.

Author and co-author of a number of publications on the topics of domestic violence, command responsibility, juvenile delinquency, criminal offence of rape, sexual exploitation from the position of power and narcotic drug abuse.
