Šaban Maksumić was born in 1960 in Gradska, municipality of Ljubuški. He graduated from the Law School in 1982 in Sarajevo and passed the Bar Exam in 1986. He performed the duties of a professional associate at the Basic Court II and at the Higher Court in Sarajevo. In 1992 he was elected as a judge of the District Military Court in Sarajevo, whereupon in 1996 he was appointed as a judge of the Higher Court in Sarajevo. Since 1997, he was working at the Cantonal Court in Sarajevo as a judge. On 11 October 2004, he was appointed as a judge of the Court of BiH.
