Judge Vesna Trifunović was born in Sarajevo. She completed her primary and secondary education there, as well as the Law School. She did her internship at the District Court and at Municipal Court II in Sarajevo. After the Bar Exam she worked as a legal officer at the Second Basic Court in Sarajevo, working on cases in the enforcement, extra-judiciary and commercial divisions from December 1985 until she was appointed a judge. In March 1990 she was appointed a judge in the civil division of the Basic Court II in Sarajevo and held that office until May 1994. Her career in judiciary resumed when she was appointed a judge in the Basic Court of Brčko District in June 2002 and then as a judge in the Municipal Court in Sarajevo from 15 December 2003 to 1 January 2008  when she was selected to serve as a judge of the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

In her career as a judge she has been working on the civil law cases and she actively participated in civil law seminars and trainings. She attended the seminar on Alternative Dispute Resolution and the seminar on the application of the European Convention organized in Strasbourg in 2003. She is involved in the work of the Legal Clinic as part of the contract law course at the Sarajevo Law School.
