Working Meeting of Witness Support Coordination Body Representatives

On Monday, 1 November 2021, the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina was host to a working meeting of representatives of the Witness Support Coordination Body, elected at previous coordination meetings of witness support sections in judicial institutions in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The Coordination Body is an informal working body in charge of monitoring the coordination, communication and cooperation of witness support sections in judicial institutions, advocating the interests of all representatives of witness support sections in judicial institutional in BiH, in compliance with the conclusions made by the BiH High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council in January 2021, pertaining to unhindered systematic operation of witness/victim protection and support mechanisms in war crimes cases.

 

The meeting was also attended by representatives of the BiH High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council, as well as OSCE representatives. It analyzed the needs of witness support sections/officers at courts and offices of prosecutors, as well as the proposed future activities aimed at providing quality support to witnesses at judicial institutions.

 

In line with the Revised National War Crimes Prosecution Strategy adopted in 2020, in the context of the strategic goal VIII, measure 3, it was, inter alia, decided that courts should periodically inform the Witness Support Section at the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina about witness support and protection activities in war crimes cases.
