On 24 January 2025 the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina delivered a Trial Judgment in the case of Mustafa Stovrag (S1 1 K 033885 19 Kri), finding the accused Mustafa Stovrag guilty that by the acts described in the operative part of the Judgment he committed the criminal offense of War Crimes against Prisoners of War under Article 144 of the Criminal Code of the Socialist Federative Republic of Yugoslavia (CC SFRY), which was adopted based on the Law on the Application of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Criminal Code of the SFRY.

The Court sentenced the accused to 3 (three) years of imprisonment.

An appeal from the Judgment may be filed with the Appellate Division of the Court within 15 (fifteen) days of the day when a written copy thereof was received.

At the same time, the measures of travel ban and the obligation to mandatory periodically report to a relevant state authority have been imposed on the accused.

The imposed restrictive measures shall remain in force for as long as necessary, but not beyond the moment when the accused is committed to serve his prison sentence.

The accused is charged that, during the war in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the armed conflict between the Army of BiH and the Army of Republika Srpska (VRS), in the territory of the municipalities of Rudo, Višegrad, Goražde and Foča, between October 1992 and November 1995, in his capacity as a member of the Army of BiH, i.e. member of the MUP R BiH, Public Security Station (SJB) Goražde, together with other members of the East Bosnia Operative Group (IBOG) of the Army of BiH, he proceeded in violation of the rules of international humanitarian law, and in breach of the provisions set forth in the Geneva Convention relative to the Treatment of Prisoners of War, by depriving them of their liberty and by committing other inhumane acts of similar nature against the captured members of the Army of Republika Srpska, with the intention to inflict great pain or serious physical or mental injury or deterioration of health.
