Judges and Judicial Staff of the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina Participate in Judicial College in Mostar

The Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina has been organizing its traditional Judicial College on an annual basis, so that this year as well the judges of the Court of BiH, together with the judicial staff, thanks to the support from the AIRE Centre, attended the Judicial College in the town of Mostar from 6-8 December 2023.

The judges and the judicial staff had the opportunity to hear presentations from their colleagues from the region, the United Kingdom and the judges of the Court of BiH about rather important and current topics, as well as on the issues from its case law that pertain to the lawfulness of evidence, with a particular emphasis on the standards laid down in the European Convention on Human Rights and the case law of the European Court of Human Rights.

The judges and the judicial staff had the honor to discuss the use of digital evidence and encrypted applications with Mr. Mark Weekes, South Eastern Circuit Judge of Crown Court England, who spoke about the use of digital evidence in organized crime cases, focusing on the case law and the perspective of the United Kingdom, as well as with Ms. Valentina Pavličić, Montenegro representative before the European Court of Human Rights, about the international standards and current issues of the lawfulness of evidence originating from the Sky Ecc and Anom encrypted communication platforms.

The College has focused primarily on the exceptionally actual topic, namely gender-based violence and femicide, about which the participants spoke with Ms. Duška Andrić Ružičić of the Women Rights Center Zenica.
