Following a trial, on 20 September 2024 the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina delivered and pronounced a Trial Judgment, acquitting the accused Bahrija Čikarić of the charges, because it was not proven that by the acts described in the operative part of the Indictment he committed the criminal offense he was charged with.
According to the Indictment, between 19 September 2018 and 28 May 2020, as an official person at the institutions of BiH, as a managerial civil servant at the Agency for Identification Documents, Registers and Data Exchange of BiH (IDEEA), he committed the criminal offense of Abuse of Office or Official Authority under Article 220(1) CC BiH, in the manner that, knowingly, and fully aware that he had not been assigned to a specific official trip that had to be approved by the head of the institution or another authorized person, he without authorization used an official vehicle of the Agency for private purposes, traveling to destinations known to him, covering a total of 20,440 kilometers, and thus obtained benefit in the form of unauthorized use of an official vehicle, i.e. Agencies resources, for private purposes, so he caused damage to the BiH budget in the amount of 3,483.42 BAM.
