Today, 17 January 2022, the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina delivered a Judgment in the case of Sena Hamzabegović, acquitting the Accused of the charge of committing the criminal offense of Funding of Terrorist Activities in violation of Article 202 Paragraph 2(b) as read with Paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code of Bosnia and Herzegovina /CC BiH/.
The accused Sena Hamzabegović was acquitted of the charge that she, in the period between 2013 and 2018, participated in a number of occasions in the collection and providing of financial support for the citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina in the war theater in Syria and Iraq albeit knowing that those individuals were fighting for the so-called Islamic State (ISIL) and that they have joined formations designated as terrorist groups and organizations by the United Nations Security Council. The goal of those organizations was to destabilize and change by force the political and constitutional order, and members of the organizations intended to force legitimate authorities of Syria to change the constitutional order and the political regime by way of daily armed operations and attacks on the population, killings, unlawful imprisonment, taking of hostages and other activities.
