Judgment pronounced in the Sanid Bureković case

Having held a guilty plea agreement consideration hearing and a sentencing hearing in the case of Sanid Bureković (S1 2 K 046211 25 K), on 27 May 2025 the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina delivered and pronounced a Judgment, finding the accused Sanid Bureković guilty of the criminal offense of Accepting Gifts and Other Forms of Benefit under Article 217(2) CC BiH.

The Court sentenced the accused to five (5) months of imprisonment, and fined him with 1,000.00 BAM, which the accused shall pay within 30 days of the day when the judgment becomes final.

 

The ill-gotten gain in the amount of 50.00 BAM has been confiscated from the accused, who must pay the amount towards the budget of Bosnia and Herzegovina within 30 (thirty) days of the day when the Judgment becomes final.

 

The accused was found guilty that on 3/4 August 2022, at between 23:51 and 00:07 hours, at the international border crossing of Brod, as a police officer of the BiH Border Police, holding the rank of a “police officer”, deployed at the work station of “border control police officer” at the BiH Border Police Unit Brod, performing the border control duties at the entrance to BiH, during the control of a passenger motor vehicle and its driver I.K., he requested and received a gift in the form of money, in order to let the above person cross into the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina, although aware, following the border checks, that he fulfils the requirements for a legal crossing into the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and that he was thus obligated to allow him to cross the state border, in the manner that, having inspected his passport and registration license, he told I.K. that his registration license was a forgery, i.e. that the seal that pertains to the time-frame of the vehicle roadworthiness text validity has been forged and that the vehicle must not be operated any more, although aware that none of the above was established during the vehicle papers check.
