On 28 May 2023 the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina delivered and pronounced a Trial Judgment in the case of Vildan Ključo (1 2 K 024349 24 K), finding Vildan Ključo guilty that by the acts described in the operative part of the Judgment he committed the criminal offense of Illegal Establishment and Joining Foreign Paramilitary or Parapolice Formations under Article 162b(2) of the Criminal Code of Bosnia and Herzegovina

The Court sentenced the accused Vildan Ključo to three (3) years of imprisonment.

The time the accused spent in pre-trial custody, running from 15 October 2023 onwards, shall be credited towards his sentence of imprisonment.

The accused Vildan Ključo is charged that, with the aim of leaving for the war theater in Syria and joining terrorist organizations in the territory of Syria, on 28 August 2012 he flew to Turkiye on a regular Sarajevo-Istanbul flight, and with the assistance of unidentified persons crossed the Turkish-Syrian border and joined the military unit of “Ahmed Asaf”, which became an integral part of the terrorist organization of ISIL, the so-called “Islamic State” in the territory of Syria and Iraq, whose goal was to destabilize and violently overthrow the political and constitutional order in Syria. It is further said that the accused Vildan Ključo became a member of the foregoing terrorist organization, and together with its other members took part in the acts of war in the territory of Syria up until 2023, which is when he crossed back into Turkiye and returned to BiH in 2023.
