Appeals Judgment in Ramiz Dreković sent out

On 21 November 2023 the Appellate Division Panel of the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina sent out an Appeals Judgment dismissing as ill-founded the appeal filed by the Prosecutor's Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina and upholding the Trial Judgment delivered by the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina on 17 May 2023, which acquitted Ramiz Dreković of the charges, for it was not proven that by the acts described in the operative part of the Judgment he committed the criminal offense of War Crimes against Civilians under Article 142(1) of the Criminal Code of the Socialist Federative Republic of Yugoslavia.

According to the Indictment, during the state of war and armed conflict in Bosnia and Herzegovina between the Army of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina (ARBiH) and the Army of Republika Srpska, as Commander of the 4th Corps of the ARBiH, Ramiz Dreković acted in violation of the rules of international humanitarian law in the manner that between 21 May 1995 and 7 June 1995 he ordered an attack against a majority Serb populated town of Kalinovik and an indiscriminate attack by shelling the territory of the populated town of Kalinovik.
