Indictment Confirmed in the Case of Jevtić Milan and Others

The Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina confirmed, on 29 January 2025, an indictment in the case of Milan Jevtic and others (S1 1 K 028468 24 Kro), which charged the accused Milan Jevtić, Rajko Čalmić, Ostoja Perišić and Dejan Milanović that, by the acts described in the indictment, they committed the criminal offense of Crimes against Humanity under Article 172(1) as read with Articles 29 and 180 of the same Code.

The accused have been, inter alia, charged that within a widespread and systematic attack against the Bosniak civilian population of the protected enclaves Srebrenica and Žepa, being aware of such attack and knowing that they acts formed a part of the attack, with the intent to discriminate against a group of Bosniaks, from early July through late August 1995, they committed persecution on national, ethnic and religious grounds by murdering Bosniak captured men in as much as the accused Rajko Čalmić and Ostoja Perišić, along with other members of the 1st Milić Light Infantry Brigade of the VRS, on an unspecified day in July 1995, as ordered by the accused Milan Jevtić, they killed (by summarily execution) a total of 31 previously captured Bosniak civilians, whose mortal remains were subsequently recovered and identified.

 

In addition, the accused Dejan Milanović is charged that, on an unspecified day in July 1995, in the place of Brežanci, while performing his duties of a troop-chef, in a facility that belonged to the 1st Battalion, the 1st Milići LIBr. of the VRS, commanded by Milan Jevtić, shot dead a captured Bosniak civilian having fired from a close range.
