Indictment confirmed in Nikola Koprivica case

On 12 May 2022 the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina confirmed the Indictment issued by the BiH Prosecutor's Office on 29 April 2022, charging the accused Nikola Koprivica with the criminal offense of Crimes against Humanity under Article 172(1)h), as read with Subparagraphs a) and d), all in conjunction with Article 180(1) and Article 29 of the Criminal Code of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

According to the Indictment, between mid-May and at least until late September 1992, in the territory of Sokolac municipality, in the framework of a widespread and systematic attack launched by the Territorial Defense of the Serb Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina, within which the Sokolac Municipality Territorial defense was formed and operated, subsequently the Army of the Serb Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Army of Republika Srpska, and by the police forces of the Ministry of Interior of the Serb Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Sokolac Municipality Public Security Station, aimed against the civilian population, the Bosniaks of Sokolac municipality, in his capacity as a member of the Military Police Company of the 2nd  rmt Brigade of the Army of Republika Srpska, the accused Nikola Koprivica took part in persecution by way of forced transfer of population and murder of the Bosniak civilian population from the village of Novoseoci, Municipality of Sokolac, in the manner described in more detail in the Indictment.
