Indictment confirmed in Zdravko Čvorić case

The Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina has confirmed an Indictment in the case of Zdravko Čvorić, charging the accused Zdravko Čvorić that by the acts described in the Indictment he committed the criminal offense of War Crimes against Civilians under Article 142 CC SFRY.

The accused Zdravko Čvorić is charged that during the war in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the armed conflict between the Army of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Army of Republika Srpska, in the territory of Zvornik municipality, in his capacity as a reserve police officer at the SJB Zvornik, he proceeded in violation of the rules of international humanitarian law by breaching the provisions set forth in the Geneva Convention relative to the Protection of Civilian Persons in Time of War, in the way that in the evening hours of 28 July 1992, while performing the duty of guard at the prison located on the premises of the Divič Football Club in the settlement of Divič, Municipality of Zvornik, where Bosniak civilians from the territory of Zvornik municipality were unlawfully detained, including the victim K-1, he took her from the room on the pretext of the need to clean a bathroom, after which, armed with a rifle, cursing her and threatening to kill her, he forced her into sexual intercourse (he committed rape).
