On 17 May 2024 the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina marked a Doors Open Day by hosting a visit of members of the Novo Sarajevo Healthy Aging Center.

The Doors Open Day is an opportunity for members of the public to enter the Court of BiH building and familiarize themselves with the method of operation at the institution. The visitors were able to see for themselves how the Court really operates, they visited courtrooms and the registry office, and met judges and multiple employees. They had the opportunity to visit various departments of the Court and observe their daily operations, better understand the role of the Court in the society, and to ask questions.

Answering their questions and providing explanations were representatives of the Legal Department, Witness Support Section, Court Management Section, Public Relations and Outreach Section, the Administrative Division Secretariat, and the Internal Control.

The visitors were welcomed by the Acting President of the Court of BiH – Judge Minka Kreho, and also Judge Tatjana Kosović, Administrative Division judges and the Registrar for the Court, Ms. Emira Hodžić, with the hope that other members of the Center too will visit the Court in the future. By organizing the visit, the Court of BiH became one of the first judicial institutions to open its doors to senior citizens from the Healthy Aging Center.

The visitors shared their impressions with the Court employees, particularly stressing that the program has changed their view of the Court, thanks to the quality and useful information on the daily operations of the institution.

The Doors Open Day will become a usual practice at the Court of BiH at least once a year with the aim of strengthening the transparency of its work.
