The first hearing before the trial panel of Section I for War crimes of the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) in the Radovan Stanković case will take place tomorrow, 23 February 2006, in Courtroom 8, starting at 10.00 am.

This is the first case transferred to the Court of BiH by the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia. The indictment, which the Court confirmed/accepted on 7 December 2005, charges the accused for the criminal offense of crimes against humanity pursuant to Article 172 paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code of BiH.  The factual allegations in the indictment relate to events in the area of Foča between April 1992 and February 1993.

In order to allow all interested journalists to follow these proceedings, the video/audio signal from the courtroom will be broadcast in one of the press rooms of the Court, unless the panel orders the hearing to be held in closed session.
