Verdict to be handed down in the case of Momčilo Mandić and Others

The trial panel in the case of Momčilo Mandić and others before Section II for Organized crime, Economic Crime and Corruption of the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina will hand down its verdict on Friday 27 October 2006. The verdict hearing will take place in courtroom 4 at 12:00 pm.

The indictment charges the accused on fourteen counts on the basis of a grounded suspicion of commission of the following criminal offences:

  • Accused Momčilo Mandić: Abuse of office or official authority pursuant to the Article 226 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Srpska (CC RS), Forgery of documents pursuant to Article 364 of the CC RS, Associating for the purpose of perpetrating criminal offences pursuant to Article 211 of the CC RS, Associating for the purpose of perpetrating criminal offences pursuant to Article 249 of the Criminal Code of Bosnia and Herzegovina (CC BiH), Organized crime pursuant to Article 250 of the CC BiH, Abuse of official authority in business pursuant to Article 121 paragraph 1, subparagraph a) of the CC RS, and Providing assistance to persons indicted before the International Tribunal pursuant to Article 233 of the CC BiH
  • Accused Milovan Bjelica, Milorad Govedarica and Mirko Šarović: Abuse of office or official authority pursuant to Article 226 of the RS CC, Associating for the purpose of perpetrating criminal offences pursuant to Article 211 of the CC RS, Associating for the purpose of perpetrating criminal offences pursuant to Article 249 of CC BiH, and Organized crime pursuant to Article 250 of the CC BiH.   

The main trial in this case commenced on 14 April 2006.  The trial panel held 50 hearings with a total of more than 280 hours.
