Pronouncement of the final verdict in the case of Neđo Samardžić

On Wednesday, 13 December 2006, in courtroom 6 starting at 2.00pm, the Appellate Panel of Section I for War Crimes of the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) will hand down its verdict in the case of Neđo Samardžić.

On 29 September 2006, the Appellate Panel rendered a decision upholding the appeals filed by the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH and Defence against the Trial Panel’s verdict in this case, and revoking the first instance verdict.  The same decision orders a retrial before the Appellate Panel which has now been completed. 

Pursuant to the first instance verdict which has been revoked, Neđo Samardžić was found guilty of the criminal offence of Crimes against humanity and sentenced to a compound penalty of 13 years and four months imprisonment.
