Press Release of the Court of BiH

10.01.2007, 17:00
Today, on 10 January 2007, the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina was informed that 16 detainees, currently placed in the Detention Unit of the Court of BiH and one detainee in the KPZ Zenica started the hunger strike, as an act of solidarity with the detainees in the KPZ Kula, who also started the hunger strike.

The Court of BiH was informed that the detainees, for this matter, will not be able to attend the trials that have been pending against them. The Court of BiH will continue to implement the law and will not succumb to any pressures. The trials will not be terminated. The position of the BiH Court on this issue is that each detainee makes an individual choice whether he will start the hunger strike and by that, determine its future position in the process. The Court of BiH will take into account that the fundamental principles of the European Convention on Human Rights are not infringed. The Court of BiH has demonstrated its legal positions through its publicly available verdicts.
