Today, 25 February 2022, the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina delivered a Trial Judgment in the case of Goran Maksimović et al., finding the accused Ljiljan Mitrović, Mile Vujević, Vukašin Drašković and Gojko Stevanović guilty of the criminal offense of Crimes against Humanity under Article 172(1)(h) as read with sub-paragraph (a), taken in conjunction with Articles 180(1) and 29 of the Criminal Code of Bosnia and Herzegovina /CC BiH/. The Court imposed the following sentences:

• The accused Ljiljan Mitrović - 8 (eight) years' imprisonment;
• The accused Mile Vujević - 15 (fifteen) years' imprisonment;
• The accused Vukašin Drašković - 15 (fifteen) years' imprisonment;
• The accused Gojko Stevanović - 15 (fifteen) years'

The accused Ljiljan Mitrović, Mile Vujević, Vukašin Drašković and Gojko Stevanović have been found guilty because they, on 14 July 1992, as part of a widespread and systematic attack by the army and police of the Serbian Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina (subsequently the Republika Srpska) against the Bosniak civilians in the territory of Zvornik municipality from the beginning of April 1992 until at least mid-July 1992, with knowledge of that attack and that their acts constituted part thereof and were directed against the Bosniak civilians, committed persecution by way of murders of Bosniak civilians on national, ethnic and religious grounds.

Pursuant to Article 56 of the CC BiH, the time that the accused spent in pre-trial custody from 16 December 2014 until 13 February 2015 shall be credited towards the imposed sentences of imprisonment.

The accused Goran Maksimović, Slavko Perić, Rajo Lazarević and Mićo Manojlović are acquitted of the charge of committing the criminal offense of Crimes against Humanity under Article 172(1)(h) as read with sub-paragraphs (a), (e), (f) and (k), taken in conjunction with Articles 180(1) and 29 of the CC BiH.

An appeal against this judgment may be filed to a Panel of the Appellate Division of the Court of BiH, within 15 (fifteen) days after service of a written copy of the judgment.
