Custody and restrictive measures imposed on suspects in Amer Karić et al.

On 23 February 2024 the Court of BiH issued a Decision in the case of Amer Karić et al., partly granting the Prosecutor’s Motion, and remanded the suspect Predrag Petković in custody, which under the Decision may last for a maximum of one month, running from the day of arrest, i.e. until 22 March 2024 or until the Court issues a new decision, on the specific custody grounds referred to in Article 132(1), Subparagraphs a), b) and c), of the CPC BiH.

The Decision denied the Prosecutor’s Motion to remand the suspect Aleksandar Matović in custody, but imposed on him the following restrictive measures:

 

  1. Ban on taking specific business activities or performing official duties under Article 126.a(1)a) CPC BiH;
  2. Ban on meeting with specific individuals under Article 126.a(1)c) CPC BiH.

 

According to the Decision, the restrictive measures may last for as long as necessary, while their justifiability shall be subject to control on a bimonthly basis.

 

The suspects Predrag Petković and Aleksandar Matović are charged with the criminal offense of Organized Crime under Article 250(2) CC BiH, as read with the criminal offenses of Illicit Trafficking in Narcotic Drugs under Article 195 CC BiH and Abuse of Office or Official Authority under Article 220 CC BiH.
