Indictment confirmed in Živojin Majstorović et al.

On 29 December 2023 the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina confirmed the Indictment in the case of Živojin Majstorović et al. (S1 1 K 028947 23 Kro), charging the accused Živojin Majstorović, Radenko Dubočanin and Radosav Savić with the criminal offense of Crimes against Humanity under Article 172(1)h) of the Criminal Code of Bosnia and Herzegovina (CC BiH), as read with Subparagraphs a), c), e), h) and i), and with Articles 29 and 180(1) of the Code.

The accused are charged that during the war in Bosnia and Herzegovina, between early April 1992 and September 1992, within a widespread and systematic attack launched by the army and the police, members of the Vlasenica Territorial Defense, subsequently the Army of the Serb Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina, supported by paramilitary formations from Serbia, targeting the Bosniak civilian population of Vlasenica and the environs, they operated in violation of the Geneva Convention relative to the Protection of Civilian Persons in Time of War, in the manner that they participated in the persecution of the Bosniak civilian population in Vlasenica municipality and the region of SAO Birač, during which hundreds of civilians were killed, tortured, beaten, unlawfully arrested, detained in inhumane conditions, in violation of the fundamental rules of international law.

 

It is also said that in early June 1992, armed with automatic weapons, the accused attacked the Bosniak civilians in the villages of Drum, Alihodžići, Pijuci, Đamđići and Gradina, during which more than twenty (20) civilians were killed, after which the population was forcibly taken to collection points, where they were robbed of their belongings, and where men were separated from women and children. After that, some civilians were taken to and detained at the “Sušica” camp and the Vlasenica Police Station, while seven (7) persons were taken to an undisclosed location, and have been unaccounted for ever since.
