President and judges of the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina take part in round table organized by International Residual Mechanism for Criminal Tribunals

On 13 September 2023, the President and judges of the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina, together with Judge Graciela Gatti Santana, President of the International Residual Mechanism for Criminal Tribunals (IRMCT), Judge Carmel Agius, former President of the IRMCT and the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY), IRMCT Judge Margaret deGuzman, and International Criminal Court Judge Joanna Korner, participated in a round table conference organized by the IRMCT.

The President and judges of the Court of BiH had the opportunity to learn about and discuss the best practices of the ICTY and the IRMCT, which will be of significant assistance to the BiH judiciary in prosecuting war crimes cases, to present the difficulties they have been facing, and to engage in discussion on possible solutions.

 

Representatives of the Court of BiH expressed their gratitude for the long-standing support provided by the IRMCT, and the ICTY before it,  to the BiH judiciary in relation to prosecuting and resolving the most serious cases within the Court's jurisdiction.
