Indictment confirmed in the Željko Tasovac and Others case

On 28 September 2006, a preliminary hearing judge of Section II for Organized Crime, Economic Crime and Corruption of the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) confirmed the indictment filed by the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH against seven accused in the Željko Tasovac and Others case.

The indictment charges Željko Tasovac, Nikola Šaraba, Dražen Radić, Miodrag Ateljević, Nada Tasovac and Slobodan Popovac, inter alia, with the criminal offences of organised crime, obstruction of justice and attempted murder.  The indictment charges the seventh accused, Nebojša Vukoje, with the criminal offences of organised crime, obstruction of justice and grievous bodily injury.

The indictment alleges, inter alia, that there is grounded suspicion that Željko Tasovac, Nikola Šaraba, Dražen Radić and Miodrag Ateljević who together, acting as an orginised criminal group led by Željko Tasovac, arranged and planted an explosiv device in front of the house of a potential witness in criminal proceedings involving Željko Tasovac.  The device was later allegedly deactivated by EUFOR.

The indictment further alleges that Nada Tasovac and Slobodan Popovac, as members of the group provided an unlawful benefit to an unspecified person in order for him to influence a witness in criminal proceeding involving Željko Tasovac.  According to the indictment, Nebojša Vukoje illegally possessed an automatic firearm in his flat.
