On Wednesday, 10 January 2007, starting at 2.30pm in courtroom 6, the Trial Panel in the case of Mirsad Bektašević and Others will hand down its verdict. The indictment charges Mirsad Bektašević, Abdulkadir Cesur and Bajro Ikanović with Terrorism, and Senad Hasanović with Illegal possession of weapons or explosives.

Amir Bajrić, who was also charged with Illegal possession of weapons or explosives, concluded a plea agreement with the Prosecutor and was sentenced to 2 years imprisonment following acceptance of the agreement by the Court.

The indictment alleges that Mirsad Bektašević and Abdulkadir Cesur arrived to Sarajevo on 27 September 2005 from Sweden (Bektašević) and 14 October 2005 from Denmark (Cesur) with the intention of committing a terrorist act on the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina or some other European country.  The indictment further alleges that, having found out that Bajro Ikanović was interested in buying explosives, Amir Bajrić asked Senad Hasanović to obtain some of the substance they suspected was an explosive, from a box hidden in a forest.  It is alleged that Amir Bajrić provided the substance to Bajro Ikanović who forwarded it to Mirsad Bektašević and Abdulkadir Cesur.

The trial panel has held a total of 22 hearings in this case lasting over 88 hours.
