Mirsad Bektašević, Abdulkadir Cesur, Bajro Ikanović and Senad Hasanović found guilty

Today, the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) handed down the first instance verdict in the case of Mirsad Bektašević and Others, which is being processed before Section II for Organized crime, Economic crime and Corruption.

The trial panel found Mirsad Bektašević guilty of:

  • Terrorism (under Article 201 (1)(4)(f) of the Criminal Code of BiH (CCBiH))
  • Attempted obstruction of an official person in the execution of official activity (under Article 358 paragraph 1 of CC of Federation of BiH (CC FBiH))

and sentenced to 15 years and 4 months imprisonment.  The time the Accused has been held in custody since 19 October 2005 will count towards the sentence.

Abdulkadir Cesur was found guilty of:

  • Terrorism (under Article 201 (1)(4)(f) of the CC BiH)
  • Attempted obstruction of an official person in the execution of official activity (under Article 358 paragraph 1 of CC FBiH)

and sentenced to 13 years and 4 months imprisonment.  The time the Accused has been held in custody since 19 October 2005 will count towards the sentence.

Bajro Ikanović was found guilty of Terrorism (under Article 201 (1) (4) (f) of the Criminal Code of BiH (CCBiH)), and sentenced to 8 years imprisonment.  The time he has spent in custody since 18 November 2005 will count towards the sentence.

Senad Hasanović was found guilty of illicit possession of weapons or explosive substances pursuant to Article 371 paragraph 2 of CC FBiH, and sentenced to 2 years and 6 months imprisonment. 

The Court extended custody for Mirsad Bektašević, Abdulkadir Cesur and Bajro Ikanović until the date the verdict becomes legally binding, or until the sentence is served in full.
