Verdict modified in the case of Mirsad Bektašević and Others

On 21 May 2007, the Appellate Panel of Section II for Organised Crime, Economic Crime and Corruption of the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina reached a verdict upholding in part appeals filed by defence attorneys for the Accused and modifying the Trial Panel’s verdict regarding the duration of imprisonment sentence.

The Appellate Panel sentenced Mirsad Bektašević to eight years and four months imprisonment in contrast with the sentence of 15 years and four months imprisonment handed down by the Trial Panel.  The time the Accused has been held in custody since 19 October 2005 will count towards the sentence.

Abdulkadir Cesur was sentenced to six years and six months imprisonment in contract with the sentence of 13 years and four months imprisonment handed down by the Trial Panel.  The time the Accused has been held in custody since 19 October 2005 will count towards the sentence.

The Appellate Panel modified the sentenced regarding Bajro Ikanović from eight years to four years imprisonment.   The time he has spent in custody since 18 November 2005 will count towards the sentence.

Senad Hasanović was sentenced to six months imprisonment in contract with the sentence of two years and six months imprisonment handed down by the Trial Panel. 

The remaining part of the Trial Panel's verdict remains unrevised.
